Singapore Tax: What You Actually Need to Know
Singapore's income tax is progressive — you're not taxed at one flat rate. The first $20,000 is completely tax-free, and rates climb gradually through 13 brackets up to 24% on income above $1,000,000.
For most working adults earning $50,000–$120,000, the effective tax rate is between 2% and 6% — among the lowest in the developed world. But that doesn't mean you should leave money on the table.
The total personal relief cap is $80,000 per Year of Assessment. Common reliefs include earned income relief, CPF top-up relief (up to $8,000 self + $8,000 family), NSman relief, spouse relief, and parent relief. For YA2026, there's also a 60% Personal Income Tax Rebate, capped at $200.
Filing deadline: 15 April (paper) or 18 April (e-Filing).
