How Remedial Training Works

NSmen who do not pass their IPPT are required to complete 20 Remedial Training (RT) sessions within their IPPT window. RT sessions are conducted at designated Fitness Conditioning Centres (FCCs) across Singapore and are supervised by SAF fitness trainers.

You can complete sessions at your own pace — attending multiple sessions per week allows you to finish faster. Each session typically lasts about one hour and includes a mix of cardio, strength, and endurance training designed to improve your IPPT performance.

You may also attempt IPPT at any point during your RT cycle. If you pass IPPT before completing all 20 sessions, you are exempted from the remaining sessions and may qualify for a cash incentive based on your score.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many RT sessions do I need to complete?expand_more

NSmen who fail IPPT must complete 20 Remedial Training (RT) sessions within their IPPT window. Each session is conducted at a designated Fitness Conditioning Centre (FCC) and typically lasts about an hour.

What happens if I miss the IPPT window?expand_more

If you do not pass IPPT or complete all 20 RT sessions within your IPPT window, you may face penalties under the Enlistment Act, including fines or other disciplinary action. It is important to plan your sessions early.

Can I do multiple RT sessions per week?expand_more

Yes, you can attend multiple RT sessions per week to complete your 20 sessions faster. There is no limit on sessions per week, though you should allow your body adequate rest between sessions.

What is the difference between RT and IPPT?expand_more

IPPT is the fitness test itself — you attempt to pass by scoring 51 or more points. RT (Remedial Training) is supervised physical training for those who fail IPPT. Completing 20 RT sessions fulfils your fitness obligation for that cycle.
