COE Calculator (2026)
Calculate total registration cost including COE premium, ARF, and registration fees.
What is a COE Calculator?
A COE calculator estimates the total registration cost of a vehicle in Singapore, including the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premium, Additional Registration Fee (ARF), and other fees. The COE is a licence granting the right to register and use a vehicle for 10 years, allocated through LTA's competitive bidding system.

Quick Reference
- • COE premiums typically range from $80,000 – $110,000+ for Cat A/B
- • ARF tiers: 100% of first $20k OMV, 140% of next $30k, 180% above $50k
- • COE valid for 10 years from date of vehicle registration
- • 5 bidding categories: A (small cars), B (large cars), C (goods vehicles), D (motorcycles), E (open)
- • COE bidding exercises held twice monthly by LTA
How COE and Vehicle Registration Works
Singapore uses a Certificate of Entitlement (COE) system to manage the vehicle population. COEs are allocated through open bidding exercises held twice a month by the Land Transport Authority (LTA). The COE premium you pay gives you the right to own and use a vehicle for 10 years.
On top of the COE premium, you must also pay the Additional Registration Fee (ARF), which is calculated in tiers based on the vehicle's Open Market Value (OMV): 100% on the first $20,000, 140% on the next $30,000, and 180% on any amount above $50,000.
The total registration cost also includes a registration fee, road tax, and excise duty (20% of OMV). Together, these costs make Singapore one of the most expensive places in the world to own a car.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Certificate of Entitlement (COE)?expand_more
A COE is a licence that gives you the right to register, own, and use a vehicle in Singapore for 10 years. COEs are allocated through a competitive bidding system managed by the Land Transport Authority (LTA). The COE premium reflects demand for vehicle ownership and is one of the largest costs of owning a car in Singapore.
What are the current COE premium categories?expand_more
There are 5 COE categories: Category A (cars up to 1,600cc and 97kW), Category B (cars above 1,600cc or 97kW), Category C (goods vehicles and buses), Category D (motorcycles), and Category E (open category for any vehicle type except motorcycles). Premiums vary significantly by category and change with each bidding exercise.
How is the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) calculated?expand_more
ARF is calculated in tiers based on the vehicle's Open Market Value (OMV). The first $20,000 of OMV is taxed at 100%, the next $30,000 (from $20,001 to $50,000) at 140%, and any amount above $50,000 at 180%. For example, a car with an OMV of $30,000 would have an ARF of $20,000 + ($10,000 x 1.4) = $34,000.
What are the different COE bidding categories explained?expand_more
Category A is for smaller cars (up to 1,600cc and 97kW) and is the most popular. Category B covers larger and more powerful cars. Category C is for commercial vehicles. Category D is exclusively for motorcycles. Category E is the open category — it can be used for any vehicle except motorcycles, and typically has the highest premiums.
